Guide to Aluminium Polishing

Depending on the state of the metal substrate you may need to start with an abrasive. If you need advice on the correct abrasives and/or tools for your polishing application please contact us via phone/email or our site visit request form and we will recommend the best products for the job.

SAIC provides hand held, bench and floor mounted polishing machines to cover all polishing applications. Contact us for further details. Once you have reached the desired finish using your abrasives we then suggest moving onto using polishing mops and compounds.

If the aluminium substrate is in poor condition with heavy scratch marks we would suggest going from your abrasives to using a carbrax cutting compound such as SAIC CGM or Cannings Carbrax SMG used with a Dry Sisal mop. This will cut back the deep scratch marks and get you ready for the next stage.

Alternatively is the aluminium is in a medium to good condition you could start here.
We would suggest using a cut & colour compound such as SAIC Green BG with a White Stitch Mop.
This will clean and brighten the aluminum. Some may choose to leave this as there final finish.

For a high quality bright / mirror finish on aluminium you should use a finishing compound such as SAIC Hi-Brite Green or Cannings Hyfin with a loosefold G Mop or WDR Mop. This will bring the substrate up to a an extremely high/bright quality finish.

**Please bear in mind that this is a broad guide to polishing aluminum. For a more in-depth, specific guide we will happily look at your application and make exact recommendations based on your requirements.
